About

Hey, I’m Pepe — a Ph.D. Candidate at CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security in Saarbrücken, Germany. I grew up in Seville, Spain, and somehow ended up building tools that find bugs in software before attackers do. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My research sits at the intersection of systems security and fuzz testing. My main project is Fandango, an open-source fuzzer that generates structured, semantically valid inputs to stress-test software at scale. Since starting my PhD in 2023 I’ve co-authored 8 papers, visited the Max Planck Institute in Bochum, and presented at conferences worldwide. Still a lot more to do.

This site is where I share what I’m working on, thinking about, or occasionally stumbling through. No grand mission statement — just a researcher trying to document the journey honestly.

When I’m not at my desk, I’m usually somewhere new. Traveling is how I reset. I also have a soft spot for sparrows — I once raised one that came into my life unexpectedly, and though it didn’t stay long, it left a mark.

"Like the sparrows that find strength in their smallness, may we too discover our resilience in the face of challenges, and our ability to soar against all odds." 🐦🌟
